SAVE A LIFE OR TWO
Nature is a perfect system. Though, from our perspective, it is a cruel one. Cats mate several times a year and have multiple kittens. We have all seen the charts showing how an unspayed female cat will HAVE KITTENS AND multiply exponentially in a brief time. While the cats do multiply, and we should all spay and neuter our pets the picture is far from correct. As we said, nature is purrfect. A veterinary doctor once told me that the reason the cats have so many kittens is that only one kitten out of the litter will make it to be 1 year old. And only 1 in 10 (or even less) will live to have offspring of their own.
The question is what type of person are you?
Will you sit back and let them die of hunger, disease hunted by predators all alone. Lost and helpless?
Or will you help?
HOW DOES FOSTERING WORK?
In a way it is easy and in a way it is complex.
The jest of it is that you take in two or more kittens and raise them with love and patience. Once they are sufficiently strong and grown-up, we find them a forever home.
The process takes about 3-4 months. We start looking for a great family when they are about 10 weeks old. Some kittens get adopted right away and some might take a little longer.
We try to make sure they are healthy before they come to you. Sometimes the disease shows up unexpectedly. But we are here to help guide you or take them back in case you feel unable to take care of them.
We cover the medical costs for them, but all the visits need to be at the clinic we work with. At this moment we work only with a clinic in Elgin.
You cover the food and litter and take care of them. We need decent-quality pictures to post and find them adoptive homes. Good descriptions of their blooming character help a lot too.
Together we PARTNER to save them and find them an awesome forever home.
And if you do end up falling in love with your fosters you can keep them forever!
