Al really needs our help. He has been through so very much and we can't bear to let him down (again...sigh)

 

To sum up his last 2 years of life - he moved 2, lived through a fire in the apartment, was hunted and caught by Animal Control, spent 6 weeks in a small cage in pound (and survived! despite being a shy big boy) until we managed to get him out. The he moved with us and finally, finally, finally got adopted by a wonderful couple. But his trials have not been over... Within few weeks he got UTI and terrible blockage. The new family was overwhelmed with his sickness and asked to return him to us.
How could we not take our big loaf of love back?

The adoptive family did take Al to a VCA clinic where he was unblocked (it was an emergency!) and then he went to our vet and spent 10 days in hospital. Once he came back to us his treatment of antibiotics and fluids continued. We just finished the second round of antibiotics and are going back to a vet for urinalyses and blood work next week. We and our Doctor are hopeful that he will make a full recovery. 
It is uncertain if Al would find a home again. He might need to stay with us forever. His UTI was brought on with stress and it is very difficult to judge if it would happen again even if we do find a family to love him.
Al's bills are approaching $2300 and that is without the urinalysis and blood work next week. If the results show he did not clear the infection we will need to do another round of antibiotics. The future is very uncertain for our big boy.
